Some days you just need a few rainbows, and this happened on just such a day. Awhile back I dyed up two other versions, which you can see here, and here. Each yarn base will pull the colors quite differently, and I was curious as to how a rainbow would look on the alpaca, since it tends to mute shades rather than allow them to spring forward. Suffice it to say I am quite pleased.
If you've not knit or crocheted with alpaca before, you're in for quite a treat. Besides being incredibly soft, it has a sensuously slippery feel that is enhanced by the addition of silk to the blend. This will work up into a garment or accessory that you will welcome next to your skin, it's that yummy. Depending on the width of your project, you'll have occasional little rainbows in each row, or a prism of stacking ones.
