Once upon a time I was living in Finland. And like all faerie tales, there are Good Things and Bad Things, but today's tale contains only Small Things, and, you guessed it, they Have No Words. But I have a very poignant memory of wandering through the cold and misty forest with a plastic bucket picking wild blueberries and lingonberries. For an hour or more I wandered, picking my way over small stones through mossy bogs, hearing only the soft lapping of the lake on the shore, bird calls far and near, and feeling the vastness of the Autumn stillness.

When I returned to our clearing, unhurried, and welcomed with a hot drink, I picked out each berry, one by one, and put them into two beautiful ceramic bowls. When finished, there were two bowls of debris-free berries ready for eating. Stunning in their beauty and simplicity, fresh from the forest, free for the taking, a veritable cornucopia of abundance.

When I was dyeing these skeins that image, and it's attached memories, surfaced over and over again. May you enjoy what you make with this yarn as much as we enjoyed our delicious bowls of berries!
