67% Swiss Mountain Silk, 23% kid mohair, 10% nylon
346 yards (316 meters) per 100 grams
6-7 stitches per inch on US 3-5/3.25-3.75 mm
dyed in a batch of five skeins
As almost always happens, the yarn and dyepot decide the colors and then the skeins name themselves. As I looked at the deep rich amethyst overlayering itself with teal and frosted grape, I could see both the night sky and deep ocean of the Pacific.
Nainoa. Named for Nainoa Thompson, famed navigator of the Hōkūleʻa and president of the Polynesian Voyaging Society. You can read more here on the PVS website, and perhaps see and feel the magic of his legacy through this yarn. I know I do.
