As I rootled around in the bare naked yarn bin, I realized that I'd been holding on to this base because even though all the yarn is luxurious, this one is just a little bit special. Doesn't that mean I should be dyeing up more of it, not less? It also showed me that that old tendency to save things for special occasions needs another weeding out.
Indigo and sapphire, cobalt and midnight, these are the colors of our dreaming in the dark where potential is cocooned and incubated. Then a flame from a beeswax candle, or the full moon, or stars reflected in the ocean illuminate just a few corners, lending light and mystery both. I love how the silk picks up the highlights and allows the mohair to reflect the darker mirrored shades, and then halo them around the silk. It really is a magical yarn, and I'm so delighted to carry it!
