When I first moved to Waimanalo and started snorkeling off the turtle ponds, one of my favorite school of fish to watch were ones that I nicknamed 'Dr Seuss Fish.' No, that's not their real name, but it's what they looked like to me. When young, they're mostly black with small white dots, and as they get bigger they have amazing black and white checkerboards on their sides. The old guy who inspired this batch of yarn is just huge! He or she is the biggest one I've ever seen, no longer even has the clear checkerboard pattern, and because he was washed up on the beach in pristine condition, I can only imagine he'd lived far beyond his years and wanted one last up-in-the-air experience before moving on.

I took a wee bit of liberty with the shading of blues, giving you the experience of viewing these amazing fish through the gorgeous azure of the water as I've done many times.
