Yes, as a matter of fact, I do teach knitting! If you are on island and would like to learn to knit, brush up on your skill set, or master new techniques, meet me on selected  Sundays (10am-12noon) at Kalapawai Cafe & Deli in Kailua. If Sundays don't work for you, contact me and we'll find another time. I currently have both public and private group classes, and am open to traveling to the greater Honolulu area.

Beginning or experienced knitter?  If you want to brush up on your skills or learn new techniques, welcome! Either bring the project you have questions about, or your supplies to start a new one, and we'll go from there. Feel free to contact me ahead of time to let me know what you'd like to do so I can be prepared to assist you when we start class.

Brand new knitter?  Even if this is your first time to knit, you should choose a project that thrills and inspires you! In this class you'll learn to cast on and off, knit and purl, and depending on the pattern you choose, a variety of other techniques as well.

I found this amazing list of first time beginner, easy, and slightly more complicated scarves and decided that almost all of them are suitable for your very first knitting project. Take a look and see which ones call out to you. Many are free, and the others can be purchased on Ravelry. Haven't heard of Ravelry? No problem, after this class you'll likely be a happy member! Don't like scarves? Let me know what you do want to knit and I'll help you find a pattern appropriate for your first project.

Contact me after you've purchased the class, we'll discuss your pattern choice, and then I'll suggest an appropriate weight yarn. You can purchase yarn from me if you like, or bring your own stash. We'll worry about needles later, as you'll also learn about swatching, which is how you find out the height and width of your knitting stitches. This changes depending on the weight of your yarn and the size needles you use. Sound complicated? It's really not. You'll be familiar with all this in no time!

Classes are limited to 6 students, and you're encouraged to sign up ahead of time to reserve your place. You can contact me by phone or email to ask any questions. I'm looking forward to meeting new and seasoned knitters on the Windward side!
